FLM National League New Season 24/25
Published on: Aug 12, 2024
The new season is nearly upon us. Entries have now closed and this upcoming season is going to be different from previous years.
Alex Machin, the IRTPA’s National League Coordinator has analysed the statistics from last year’s matches.
A staggering 68% of matches were played using a substitution and 22% were walkovers. In 22/23 this was 58% and 17% respectively.
Having taken all of this information into account we have decided to trial a new format for the 24/25 season in an attempt to improve the experience for all involved.
Format for 24/25:
- All Divisions will comprise of 2 person teams
- All matches will be 2 Singles matches (best of 3×6 game sets) and 1 Doubles (single set to 8) all played level unless improved player, further details below/attached.
Div 6-10 must have a minimum of 3 nominated players. With a suggested nominated team of 4 players.
- Div 3-5 are suggested to have 3 nominated. 2 nominated players must be approved by the NL coordinator before entry is accepted.
- We have foregone Semi Finals this year – instead the Top 2 teams will go through to a final
- Handicaps will be rounded to the nearest whole number and it must be within the correct bracket to enter.
- Only the Singles will count towards the MVP
It is very much hoped that this changed format will give a better experience to all of the players. Certainly, by the number of entries, this new format for 24/25 has been welcomed and your feedback, as always, is very welcome.
