National League Double

BTM wins the national league United States team event followed by the FLM Super League Event

The 2nd year of the FLM Super League concluded yesterday with two singles matches and one doubles match of the highest and most competitive tennis seen for quite a while.

In the round robin matches, nothing was a foregone conclusion with the favourite on paper being quite often being defeated.  This led to deafening support from the supporters of one team or other and quite often neutral spectators just joining in the spontaneous excitement of being part of this wonderful event.

The 4 teams had team shirts provided – this made identifying the players so much easier – each team also had its team colour – the three main colours of FLM’s logo and the red of the IRTPA.

The team captains this season were the same as in the inaugural event, namely Rob Fahey’s Forcers, Robert Shenkman’s Henchmen, Bryn Sayers’ Slayers and Ben Taylor- Matthews’ Mavericks.

There were new players also in the mix –  Craig Greenhalgh, John Woods-Casey, James Medlow and Henry Henman.  Henman won all the matches he participated in winning the MVP for the event.

Henry Henman MVP Winner

The final singles of the final was a ‘dead rubber’ between Henchman’s Medlow and Maverick’s Henman.  It was a thrilling encounter with Henman saving a number of match points and closing the match out winning 9/8.

Congratulations has to go to Shenkman’s Henchmen – winners last year and finalist this year.

This event would not be possible without our sponsors FLM Wealth Management.  Your commitment to us is so much appreciated.

Our thanks to James Simpson of Pol Roger for their wonderful product!
