IRTPA PLAYERS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026

Format:

The draw for the Players’ Championship contains 16 players and these 16 are chosen as follows:

  • The top 8 players by world ranking gain automatic entry
    • These players will be seeded according to their world ranking at the date of entries closing. These rankings will be taken from the official IRTPA World Rankings following the conclusion of the French Open 2026 on Saturday 3rd October.
    • The draw will be carried out on Sunday 4th October by Ben Geytenbeek on the morning before the French Open Doubles. A link will be sent to you nearer the date.
  • All remaining players will enter the Satellite Qualifying event.
  • The 8 quarter finalists of the Satellite event will qualify for the IRTPA Players’ Trophy.
  • The Satellite qualifying event will be seeded according to the player’s world ranking at the date of entries closing and then by handicap
  • The Satellite event will be capped at 16 players, with a handicap cut-off of 15.4. This will be the cap after the global handicap alterations.
  • The Satellite event will be played over the best of 3 six game sets.
  • The Players’ Championship will be played over the best of 3 six game sets. The final will be played over best of 5 six game sets.

NEW

  • The IRTPA is opening this Championship to any amateur who has a world ranking of 30 and below.
    • If the player does not have a world ranking in this range but their handicap is -5.4 or better this also qualifies them for participation.

Prize Fund

The IRTPA Players’ Championship

The guaranteed minimum prize fund will be USD $35,000 and this can be increased up to 2 days before the closing date (28th September) for world ranking points to be increased.

The Satellite Event

The winner of this event cannot win more prize money than a losing quarterfinalist in the Championships.

Prize money will be awarded to the losing semi-finalists, finalist and winner.

Appearance money will only be paid to a player who does not qualify for the Championship by reaching the quarterfinals. This appearance will not be less than $800 per player.

Amateur Entry Fee

$125 to be paid in Aiken

The Pro Am

This will be played towards the latter half of the week with the final concluding on the Saturday before the semi-finals of The Players' Championship.

Conditions of Entry

  • By submitting this form, I confirm that I will not place, accept, or facilitate any wager on the outcome of any match in the event, including any match in which I am a player, marker, or otherwise involved.
  • Each player must mark one match per event entered into. Failure to do so will incur a fine of $150.  A marking schedule will be available on-line after completion and publication of the draw
  • Each player should commentate on at least one match when the Championship commences. Failure to do so will incur a fine of $150.
Logistics
  • Nick Howell is available to contact in relation to getting to and from Aiken and the potential flying options available to you.
  • The dress codes for the Aiken Tennis Club will be sent to you after the draw.
  • Aiken Tennis Club will arrange billeting for all players attending the event.
