The French Open is under way, and it matters more than most. It is the first of three tournaments that will close the current Race and decide who earns a place in the knockout eliminators. The prize: the right to challenge World Champion Camden Riviere in September 2027.

The battle for fourth

All eyes are on the last eliminator spot. Ben Taylor-Matthews holds fourth place, but only just. Steve Virgona sits fifth, and the maths is simple: if Virgona out-finishes Taylor-Matthews across Paris, Aiken and Queen’s, the place could be his. Expect it to go to the wire.

And then it starts again

The dust will barely settle. January 2027 opens a brand-new Race cycle: the road to challenging for the world title in September 2029.
